  33. that used MacInTalk. It requires Apple’s Speech Manager, and fails 
  34. gracefully if it is not present. It lists all installed voices in the 
  35. "Voices" menu. You can choose which voice you want Welcome! to use in the 
  36. future by selecting one. If you don't select any, it defaults to either 
  37. "Female Voice", if available, or the last voice installed, if not. Version 
  38. 1.3.2 is a bug-fix, which fixes the darn bug that made it Thanksgiving all 
  39. week (this one manifested at a job interview) and adds Halloween (no, I 
  40. don't know how I missed it the first time. Try it.

  156. most of the menus and dialogs are in English, as best as he could translate
  157. it. Your preferences should still be preserved from the German version. Be 
  158. sure to look at the balloon help also. Please apply the patch to a copy

  183. recognizes both Sun Ulaw files and MIME headerless Ulaw files. It also
  184. plays the data fork of any file which usually means listening to a load of 
  185. yuk. UlawPlay uses a double buffering technique to read in chunks of data
  186. from the input file, apply the inverse mu-law characteristic and play it 
  187. all in real time. In this way the application doesn't need much memory and 
  188. can play very large sound files (no upper limit in principle). You may hear
  189. a very small amount of noise between chunks but it is not too bad; all this
  190. probably depends on the processor speed used and the disk access time.

  197. Sun Ulaw format sounds and vice versa. In one direction Ulaw extracts the

  199. the Sun audio 8kHz sampling rate and applies the standard Ulaw quantization
  200. characteristic. In the other direction it reads a Sun Ulaw Format Sound
  201. File and creates a double clickable Mac sound file (sfil) at any desird
  202. sampling rate. Any number of mac files can be dragged and dropped onto the 
  203. Ulaw application icon and Ulaw will extract, play and store every 'snd ' 
  204. resource in the resource fork of each file automatically. Requires System 7
  205. and AppleEvents.

  215. being multitasking friendly to give a continuous sound output. Future plans
  216. are to overcome this minor deficiency. Sounds can be fast forwarded;
  217. reversed and sped-up; paused and looped. Clicking within the progress bar

  219. dropped onto the application icon and SoundMachine will queue and play

  245. .WAV file. The output options are fairly limited. For input however, a
  246. Macintosh file is - a system 7 sound file, an FSSD file (with or without
  247. HCOM compression), or virtually any file containing 'snd ' resources.

  322. includes a repeat song, shuffle (play in random order), choose the sound 
  323. output and more. If it is a disk where you have entered the names of the

  325. Audiodeck. Great, small, cool controller. Audiodeck requires System 7.0 or 
  326. later and ColorQuickDraw in order to run. Although you will not "crash", 
  327. running in less than 16 colours is a not "supported".
